How we handle disruptions

Every year, we invest in our security of supply by maintaining, developing and renewing our district heating, electricity transmission and water supply networks. If unexpected disruptions occur, we are ready to react quickly around the clock and all year round.

Seinäjoen Energia and the electricity network company Seiverkot have prepared contingency and preparedness plans as well as operating instructions for different disruption situations, and they are updated regularly. In addition, various training courses and exercises are organised annually in relation to disruptions. Some of them are carried out in cooperation with various stakeholders, such as rescue authorities and environmental authorities.

We continuously monitor the status of district heating, electricity transmission and water supply networks, and we receive information about various disruptions and exceptions from our systems. In addition, we have a 24/7 on-call service. This allows us to react quickly to disruptions, and we are always ready to start repairing faults as soon as they occur.

We always try to pinpoint the fault as quickly as possible. For this purpose, we use, for example, data and calculations received from our systems. Sometimes, in the event of a power outage, for example, it is necessary to try to switch on the power several times to find the exact location of the fault. In this case, the household’s electricity may turn on and off for several times before it stays on.

Sometimes, pinpointing leaks and faults requires more investigation work, visual inspection of the network and field work. If you notice, for example, a leak or a tree fallen onto a power line in our operating area, please contact our fault service numbers.

In the event of disruptions, we inform our customers primarily by means of disruption notifications and maps on our website. We may also send text messages to customers about planned construction sites and more extensive disruptions. Furthermore, the fault numbers for electricity, district heating and water serve customers around the clock.
